Temperature converter

Galliera was designed to make the Celsius relationship easy enough for mental arithmetic. The full converter adds Fahrenheit and kelvin for reference.

74 °G is the familiar nominal body-temperature reference: 37 °C / 98.6 °F.
Formulas

The arithmetic.

Galliera is especially simple relative to Celsius. Fahrenheit needs both a scale factor and an offset; kelvin shares Celsius's interval size but uses an absolute zero.

Galliera ↔ Celsius

TG = 2TC
TC = TG ÷ 2

Galliera ↔ Fahrenheit

TF = 0.9TG + 32
TG = (TF − 32) ÷ 0.9

Galliera ↔ Kelvin

TK = (TG ÷ 2) + 273.15
TG = 2(TK − 273.15)

Temperature intervals

1 °G interval = 0.5 °C = 0.5 K = 0.9 °F interval
